Parents and other adults are always worried about the effect which new media and ways of transmitting information will have upon children

There is currently anxiety about the supposed ill-effects which smartphones are having upon children. This has led to some schools banning them and many parents are now becoming convinced that these devices are a terrible scourge on modern childhood. Such worries are only the latest in a long line of similar scares, which date back over two thousand years.
