I wonder how our spineless, Islam-pandering government will defend this one. In fact, the bill has already faced opposition in parliament by an MP, who, wait for it…is a Muslim! And not only a Muslim, but also the MP for Dewsbury and Batley, probably one of the most Muslim areas of the country.

Unfortunately, even if such a bill is passed, it won’t make much difference. The rule of law is so weak in this country (particularly for non-natives) that they’ll still do it and get away with it.

When interviewed about the problem of producing defective children, I remember a Pakistani woman shrugging and saying, 'It's God's will'.

This reminds me of a cartoon in an adult magazine many years ago. Hillbilly woman speaking to her hillbilly husband by a ramshackle cabin way back in the holler. she says, "If we gets us a divorce, will ah still be yer sister?"

There's a lot of jokes like this. I suppose "Hillbilly" suggests the Appalachian region, but the only states in which incest is not a criminal offense are Rhode Island and New Jersey.

A timely piece of writing, Simon. Thank you. Why aren't the mainstream media putting this out more?

There is a tacit agreement not to mention openly why there is a wish to stop such marriages. It might look racist!

Though Charles II of Spain ranks as the most disastrous result of European dynastic inbreeding, it's a little odd that his full sister, Margaret Theresa, who would marry Leopold I and became Holy Roman Empress (still keeping it in the family...) was fairly healthy (taking account of the Seventeenth Century's environment)
